Were Officially Settled

Okay people this move royally SUCKED!!!!! We have and extra kid, too much crap and as much as I don't want to face it I'm 3 years older than the last time we moved. This getting older thing is for the birds! Okay no more whining!

We found the ideally perfect house for our family. We are still in West Sac. Still four bedrooms, the bathrooms all have only ONE sink HALLELUJAH!! Less to clean. The previous owner had already converted the garage into a man cave (so he called it) so we turned it into my studio. It has turned out awesome! I love it. I have a lock on the door so the kids can't come in and out. Jeff and I did all the plumbing and flooring totally and completely ourselves. We are getting to be experts at this stuff. I have speakers in the ceiling for soft relaxing music. I will have to take pictures and post them. If you haven't seen me in a while. Now would be a fabulous time to come and get your hair done and be pampered in peace! The other good thing is that I'm now right off of Jefferson Blvd. Across from the Nugget and Target shopping center. I miss those of you that have gone else where! I know it was a far drive and also that my children probably drove you nuts. For that I'm sorry and I understand. My cell # is 916-370-3422 and home is 916-572-0017.

Halle News
We have our first homestudy this coming Friday and the second one next Wednesday. Hopefully we will have everything finalized in February. She is growing like a weed. This little skinny peanut can really put the food away. She is walking and getting into EVERYTHING! She will be 18 months on December 21 so she will officially be able to attend nursery at church.

Hudson News
Hudson turned four on November 27. My goodness where does the time go??? He is my joy and pain! The other day I was getting after him for something and he turned around and said to me "YOUR NOT MY MOMMY ANYMORE!!!! I'm going to go find a new mommy!!!" I pointed to the front door and said "Fine. Good luck trying to find a mommy who will love you and take care of you like I do and who will put up with your crap." I think my response surprised him. He went up to his room. The next morning he was snuggling with me and he siad that I was the very best momma ever and that he was sorry for saying mean things to me the day before. He really has his sweet loving moments.

Hannah News
Hannah had to move schools. At first she was pretty angry but once she started at the new school she was shocked when she realized how many friends she already had at the new school because of church and the swim team. She is doing awesome. We had her parent teachers conference with all of her teachers a few weeks ago and she had all A's and 1 B+. All of her new teachers raved about her, what an assett she has been to their classes and how wonderfully she fit in. Jef and I Are so relieved! That was our biggest worry.

Christmas News
We are leaving for Utah for Christmas. Jeff's whole family will be together to celebrate Harold and Renon's 50th wedding anniversary. We are staying in a huge cabin somewhere between Heber City and Park City (I think). It should be a lot of fun. We are having family pictures done while we are there so you all will get a valentine letter instead of Christmas. I hope that each of you and your sweet families have the best Christmas ever! We love and miss you all!

New Home for Buster

We found a great home for Buster. They have kids and and a little Yorkie so he will have a buddy to play with. The family fell in love instantly with him. So although we are sad we are happy knowing that he will be well loved and taken care of.

Funny Story

For the adoption our worker needed copy of Hannah's last report card so Jess scanned it and email it to her. A couple of days later we got her current report card in the mail which was awesome! She had 2 A+, 3A & 3B. So I electronically faxed her new one to Jeff and wrote on the cover letter

"Hey! Thought you would want to send this report card to Mai Yer. Much Better!

Well Jeff didn't read the cover letter he just PDF'd the whole thing and then emailed to our adoption worker. I don't know, maybe she already thought that I was loony and that just confirmed her suspicions. Oh well. I will have to be careful what I write to Jeff who knows hat could end up out there?

On the Adoption Front

Just thought that I would let everyone know that the 60 appeal after the parental termination is officially over. Her bio's will never be able to get het back. So we are now officially in the adoption process of Halle Ila Blum. Jef and I took a two day adoption course this last weekend. We are getting all our lttle ducks lined up in the midst of packing and moving. Busy times! Halle also started walk at Aunt Jessica's house and Grandma Kriser's house this weekend while they were babysiting. Our life as we knew it is over. They grow way too fast!

LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME FOR BUSTER

I can't remember if I have mentioned that we have to move in November. The house we are renting is going into foreclosure. It has been really difficult to find another house to rent that allow pets and if they do the pet deposits are rediculous! So unforunately we are not going to be able to keep Buster. We got Buster at 6 weeks old right after Jack was run over and poor Buster is always being compared to Jack, which is really unfair to him because Jack was 7 and he is still a puppy. The kids rarely help take care of him and I don't have the time that he deserves. We need to find him a new family.

He is 1 1/2 year old full bred Miniature Schnauzer. He is a salt, pepper & liver parti mix which is very rare. He is current on all of his shots and has been double micro-chipped.

He is the sweetest dog, loves to play with the kids, is a great kitchen floor vacuum. The best part is that he doesn't shed and he is hypo-allergenic. Halle's News & Antics

We went to court on August 4th where the judge terminated Halle's bio's parental right. They didn't even show up for court. The judge adopted all the paper work into the courts and looked at Jeff and I and said "Take good care of her!" So we are officially in the process of adopting her. We have to wait sixty days for them to appeal but that will be up in on October 4th. We have pretty much everything ready to go except our live scan and the homestudy. We are thrilled and will be so glad to have everything finalized. Hopefully that will happen before the end of the year! What better Christmas present!

Jeff kept saying that the day that Halle's parental rights were terminated he was going to take her to have her ears pierced. He wasn't kidding. As soon as we got home from court we piled the kids into the car and took Halle to Claire's and had her ears pierced. She only cried for a second and then was perfectly happy the rest of the night

It's kind of funny, Halle isn't walking yet but she sure can climb. I was cutting hair one afternoon and I could hear her banging on what I thought was the sliding glass door. This is what I found when I looked over. She was trying to see Peacow. Jeff was sitting right there but he thought the same thing I did. Between her climbing and putting everything she can find in her mouth we can't take our eyes off of her for a second.

Summer Fun at Beal's Point

The day after the 4th of July we all went to Beal's Point at Folsom Lake to play.
The kids had a ball playing in the water. Afterward we all went to Grandma and Grandpa Kriser's for a yummy dinner of Grandpa's famous BBQ chicken. MMM MMM!

A few weeks later we went camping there with Jessica and her family. We had so much fun! The cousins do love to be together. Jared and Hudson are two peas in a pod. Great company and great food. What more could you ask for?

Growing Peacow

We can't believe that Peacow started out as such and tiny peachick. Look at him now. The amazing thing is he can really fly high but he never leaves our yard. He has really kept the spiders and bugs down which has been great! He is so tame that we can still perch him on our shoulders and pet him. It has been fascinating to watch this creature grow. The other funny thing is he hardly makes any noise except little chirping sounds. He doesn't make the typical "screaming" sounds. I wonder if it because he hasn't been around other peacocks. Who knows...one of life's mysteries I guess.

The other day Peacow pecked at Hudson because he was teasing him.
Hudson: "Daddy I hate bwirds!"
Daddy: "What did you say?"
Hudson: "I hate bwirds"
Daddy: "I can't understand what you are saying"
Hudson: Out of total frustration rolls his eyes and say "Dad! Creatures that fly!"
Daddy: Shocked and laughing says, "Thank you for the Webster definition!"

I got this great shot of Hudson and Peacow today. It cracks me up everytime I look at it! Peacow is getting big and really starting to get his colors. I can't believe how much Hudson looks like my nephew Jaxon in this picture!

I'm SOOOOOO Frustrated

As I'm sure you can tell I haven't updated our blog in a while, so tonight I decided that I really need to do some serious updating. I have officially, royally screwed everything up so bear with me as I try to figure out the the heck I have done to my blog.

I'm Always Playing Catch-Up

I do so well sometimes keeping up my blog and then I seem to get bogged down by our everyday life. Some things gotta give right?! And so here I am AGAIN playing catch-up!
So much has happened since my last posting. I'll start with Halle's 1st birthday. Has it already been a year???? We celebrated her birthday on Father's Day. We had both family's over for a Father's Day/Birthday dinner. Everyone had a good time! Especially Halle (pictures to come). Halle has grown so much in every way. She has a stinkin' cute personality! She is up to almost a whoppin' 14 pounds. We met with our state adoption worker a couple of weeks ago and there was a discussion about whether we were going to continue calling her Halle or if we going to change her name. He name that her mom gave her is Alijuandra Davene. Originally we had shortened it to Ali and then we started thinking that if we adopted her we didn't want her to feel left out by no having an "H" name so we started calling her Halle. Our worker told us that if we were going to change her name to do it now. The problem is we can't agree on a name. There aren't a lot to choose from in the "H" department. We want he middle name to be Ila after Jeff's mom's mom. But we have had a hard time finding a first name to flow with it. I want to name her Hazel Ila. She is an old soul in a baby's body. I have said that since the day we got her. But then I said she looked like a Mable. I think Hazel fits her but there is no way that I will be able to convince Jeff. I THINK that we have conceded to Halle Ila. But don't mark my words on that. It seems to change on a daily basis. If you have any opinions please share. She is almost walking. She has been trying to walk for several weeks but I won't let her. It's all I can do some days to keep up with Hudson boy! She will be walking by the end of the week unfortunately!

Hhhmmmmm....what else? This is why I should post more often because I forget the funny things that the kids do and say.

This one is for Dr. O...to preface, we all have to have physicals for the adoption process. I took Hudson in for his and Dr. O was making sure that everything had "descended properly". During this process Hudson all of a sudden groans and says "Oh! My tenders!". Seriously I almost died. I never know what is going to come out of his mouth.

A couple of weeks ago Jeff's mom bought Hudson some dinosaur pajamas and his cousin Sagie a princess dress. Sage's response was, with her hands to her chest and sweet as pie "For me?" In contrast when Hudson saw the pj's his response in complete and utter excitement was "What the Hell?!!!". Oh my heavens! What am I going to do with him. I can only imagine that phone calls that we will be getting when he starts school.

Dying to Know

I'm sure you are all dying to know how Peacow is doing and that your life will not be complete without this knowledge. Unbelievably he is still alive! He is a very hardy little thing! He is growing like crazy. Today we drove by where his mama and siblings are. Apparently we are feeding him well because he is quite a bit bigger than his siblings. It must be that awesome chick feed that we got him. I have to admit that it has been fascinating to watch this little creature! He now thinks that we are his family. He follows us all over the yard. Yesterday the kids had him outside and every time the kids would come in the house he would start to chirp like crazy and come looking for them. If the door was open he would hop in and run to one of us. It is pretty funny. At night when we all go to bed he will chirp because he is lonely. He is used to all the noise and commotion of our crazy house and doesn't like the quiet. I don't know what we are going to do as he gets bigger. The kennel that we have him is already too small. We still don't know if he is a boy or girl. That made sense right?!

Peacow Likes to Perch

We took Peacow outside today. He ran around pecking at the ground eating ants and a worm. He likes to be perched on our shoulders. Jeff put him on my shoulder and he totally relaxed and snuggled his little head on my neck and he kept softly pecking at my cheek which kind of freaked me out at first and then we figured out that he was showing affection. Weird! Who knew?! We have learned to mimic the sound that supposedly the mama makes to it's chicks. We must be doing okay because he responds to the sound. Am I weird? I know, I know that is a rhetorical question!

The Latest Nutty Blum's Escapade

This is by far one of the craziest stories that I have of our nutty little family!
Let me preface this story for you:
The last 2+ years we have lived in West Sacramento when we go to Jeff's parents we take the River Road up on the Sacramento River's levees to Elk Grove. The road goes along the levee, under a super old cement bridge and up onto the levee. Right before the old bridge there is a small shack and an old barn (that they tore down last week) on a small piece of property. On this property are quite a few peacocks. The kids always want to stop and look at them. All last summer we watched all the little pea chicks grow up. This spring we watched the males do their little mating dance which I have to say was enthralling and very interesting. So we have been again watching for the new pea chicks to show up the last couple of weeks.
Now for the story:
This last weekend we went to Jeff's parents to take their truck back that they let us borrow. I had promised Hannah that I would take her summer clothes shopping so I took the girls with me and I took I-99 to Elk Grove. Jeff took Hudson with him on the River Road. Can you see where this is going yet? They stopped to look at the peacocks and saw all the little pea chicks. When they got too close all the peacocks took off except one pea chick that was maybe 7 to 10 days. He got stuck in some chicken wire. It's mommy had left him behind, stuck so Jeff helped the chick get out of the chicken wire. As it started to run away Hudson caught it. Jeff was afraid that now this little pea chick had been touched too much and that the pea chick would be pecked to death by the other birds. So what other option could they possibly have but to bring this pea chick home?! So without further adieu, we are pleased to announce newest member of the Blum family.
This is Peacow the pea chick. Hudson named him after Lightening McQueen from Cars because he is so fast. He has always called Lightening McQueen "Peacow" because Lightening is always saying "Kachow!". I thought a good name for him would be Raptor after the velociraptor dinosaur because of his claws.
He is a very sweet little thing. He is very gentle with the kids. They...We are all very enthralled with him. He likes to eat out of my hand so apparently I am the mommy of a fourth child. The kids love him so much. We"ll accept any helpful ideas that any one has on how to raise a pea chick. We have been feeding him crumbled hard boiled egg yolk and oatmeal. We bought chick food from the feed store for him yesterday. That is supposed to have all the vitamins and nutrients in it that pea chicks need. Jeff and Hudson let him run around the back yard last night where Peacow found either a slug or a worm. Jeff said he whipped it around for a few seconds and then gobbled it down. Hudson thought that was pretty funny.

So if you know of anyone that is getting rid of a large birdcage asap I would be thrilled. We aren't sure how long we will be able to keep Peacow but we want him to be comfortable. We found out that peacocks can live up to 40-50 years . Jeff started laughing and said he'll be gone by then and I'll be known as "The Crazy Peacock Lady"! GREAT! I think that I'm already there!
The moral to this story is if you send the boys off alone, EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED! ;0)

Halle's New Haircut

I have been letting Halle's bangs grow out for the last few months because I couldn't decide what to do with it. She has so much hair and it all grows forward so if I don't put it in a palm tree as Grandpa Kriser calls it or pigtails it hangs in her eyes. The other problem is when I put the in she has them pulled out within the first minute or so. It drives me bonkers. So Grandpa Kriser you will be happy to see that I cut Halle's bangs today. Jeff made me, he said if I didn't he would because she was looking pretty raggedy. Anyway here are a couple pictures of our cutie patootie. She is really starting to jabber and play. She loves people and to play. She says dada, mama, nana, Hudson she jut yells at to get his attention and Buster she has her own call for him and he comes running. He loves Halle. I think he is going to end up being her dog. She is a sweet little thing. She will be turning 1 on June 21. That's just around the corner. It doesn't seem possible. Time goes way too fast.

FISH BOY

These first two pictures are the epitome of how much Hudson loves the water. It's pure and fun joy!





Hudson absolutely LOVES, LOVES, LOVES the water! Does he not look like he is having a ball?! He had a lot of fun at the swim meet yesterday. We raced the Arden Park Dolphins. During his freestyle race he would swim a few yards then grab the lane line and turn around to smile. Then we would tell him to GO, GO, GO! He would take off again swim a few yards, stop and smile again. It cracked us up! He beat both of his times from last week and won 1st place in both.



He was tired after his two races so he went and sat on Grandma Blum's lap. We thought he would fall asleep. No such luck! He just rested for a couple of minutes and then was ready to run around again.

He finally literally dropped about an hour after we got home. He was being very quiet so I went to check on him and this is how I found him.



Both kids are learning so much from swimming like discipline, endurance both physically and mentally, hard work and the results and also just having fun. They both have made some great friends. Our tent has become the fun & popular tent. There are always at least four other kids in our tent at one time. Good times!

We are looking forward to no meet next weekend since it is Memorial weekend. I'm sure that we'll be in the water somewhere.

Hannah Fly

Hannah did great at the swim meet yesterday. We raced the Arden Park Dolphins. She was more competitive than we have ever seen her. She beat her time in the 100IM which is all four strokes from 1:58.33 (last week) to 1:54.73. She was super excited. She had a great dive in the 25 butterfly which took time off from 25.26 (last week) to 24.38. I can't believe how much strength she has gained in this stroke in the last week! She was the anchor in one of the freestyle medleys. Her team was behind when she dove in but she made up time and helped her team come in 6th. Jeff and I have never seen her swim that fast. In her breaststroke she didn't beat her time but she moved from position 7 to 5 in her age bracket on the team. We are so proud of her and how hard she is working! As always we took a plethora of pictures so I picked a few of my favorites.
